Home basses.

forgive the pun title.
this thread is a bit of a story.

i was this shop the other day called 'the bass center' where they only sell basses and bass gear and i'm pretty recognised there. anywho, i am a big jass bass fanatic and i was looking around and fiddling on various basses.

i picked up this sadowsky jazz off the wall (after hearing so much about them from you TBers) and gave it a play.
it played alright, the fretboard seemed flatter than most and the necks finish was a little slow, but i could probably gig with it if necesary (unlike some other basses i'd tested earlyer).

so, out of interest i put it back and reached for the Fender MIA jazz right behind me for an A/B comparison and when i started playing the Fender..well there was no comparison

it just felt like home/butter/whatever you wanna say that means played realy well.

i did'nt play another bass that day.

what bass is your home bass??

My "home" bass would have to be the Warwick Thumb. Doesn't get much better than that for me.

I love all my basses. But home for me is my 1978 Fender Jazz. I can't explain it.

Home is my '73 Jazz. I've been playing it since '76. So, no wonder why it feels & sounds right to me.

I think the allure is in the beefy neck not the increased tonal range.
