If you ever saw the 'Red Green Show' out of Canada (on PBS) you know that he thought DUCT TAPE was the most universal tool.
My old man (who grew up during the depression) taught me that you can make or fix almost anything with COAT HANGER WIRE.
As a tribute to my old man, and having seen an ingenious bow hook here on Talk Bass recently, I grabbed a length of my diminishing supply of coat hanger wire (have you noticed almost all hangers are plastic now?) and my trusty NEEDLE NOSE PLIERS and fashioned this little Rube Goldberg device. With a tip of the hat to Francis Deck (who generously provides his HPF plans for the do-it-yourself-er, I am offering this as OPEN SOURCE information. Enjoy! (I might start working on a self-tuner next. I remember admiring my bass teachers Prescott years ago. It was, of course, a very expensive instrument and his comment was: "for this price it should tune itself"
For now, I present you the COAT HANGER WIRE BOW-BELT HOOK. (For those of you seriously into this sort of thing, this hook comes in a choice of Orchestra or Solo Gauge)
