Hook a brother up with a Spector.

Tone difference between 34" and 35"? That is more what someone is convinced of and is therefore more opinion than fact.

I can only tell you, I own a Euro 5lx, picked it up new in '07 for about 1,950. Used, you might find a US around that or somewhat less. A used Euro, I've seen some go for anywhere between 600 and 900, depending on where you look.

I have played a couple of Euro NS-2's and they feel nearly identical to my Pre-Kramer (1984, Birch wings, dot inlay) one, and are much cheaper than the USA ones.

These were all four strings, so not exactly an apples to apples, but hopefully close! :)

Get the Euro used or new. Its worth it. I have USA and Korean ones. I wish i had got the Euro instead of the Korean. Fretwork and neckfit were subpar and i went through more than one...I ended up just refretting the dang thing myself. I also swapped the HZ pickups out. Overall, with my 20/20 hindsight - It would have been easier to get the Euro.
As far as the scale goes, Sometimes a 35 makes for a better B (not always!). Look at it this way..If it sounds and plays good to you then who cares?
However, i think all the Spector 5s are 35 inch.
Good luck!
