Hoops McCann Band: One Hit Wonder? Plays the Music of Steely Dan Yeah that's right cool cats why is this the only recording available by this amazing band? Where is Singin' in the Hoops, Swingin' Hoops, More Swingin' Hoops, In the Can With Hoops McCann? Where is the Greatest Hits? What about their crossover hit Hoops meets the TJB or the unforgettable Hoops plays Earth Wind and Fire or his amazing tribute to The Beatles Sgt Hoops Lonely Hearts Band? Where are these Glorious Gems?

I have the LP...years later, found the cd.

Assuming you're just being funny... :)

It's a cast of studio musicians, I always thought of the album as a 1-off.
I mean, Hoops McCann is a character in "Glamour Profession". That wouldn't work if they worked up arrangements for other bands. :)

That was a sought after LP/CD back in the day, especially in the years Steely Dan were dormant.
Exactly!
I looked these dates up...
  • Hoops McCann Band was released in 1988.
  • Gaucho in 1980
  • Fagen's The Nightfly in 1982. Thinking back, the 2 years or so between Gaucho & this album seemed longer.
  • Alive In America in 1995
Here's some other I bought during the great Steely Dan drought-
  • The New York Rock and Soul Revue 1991
Fagen and an All-Star cast; couple of Dan tunes were covered.
  • Eye To Eye 1982
Produced by Gary Katz. A lot of the Dan session guys on this synth duo's album. I bought this because of Chuck Rainey.
  • Rosie Vela - Zazu 1986
Produced by Gary Katz. Becker/Fagen & other Dan sessioneers appeared.

Admittedly yes I was making it up aka the drugs were kicking in and it was an attempt at amusing myself with creative writing I thought some musical friends might get amusement from. Guess not. I didn't say they were good drugs.
