Anyone ever try the one chip challenge? How’d that go for you?

It was INTENSE. The worst part was that the chip was a litttttle too big to eat in one bite so I had to eat it in two bites, which spread the spice all in my beard! It was the hottest item I've ever consumed, and 30 minutes later all 3 guys in the group had heartburn :dead:. It was a good time!

One of the guys at work grows Carolina Reapers and the bet was that if I ate one, I'd get the rest of the day off (to go to the hospital) :D

Yep, and it's nothing. Spicy hot, but it's a chemically tasting heat. The burn doesn't last long. It's all hype.
I tried this one too, and it's better: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]. Still, not nearly as spicy as you'd think.
I'm not sure who they get for these videos. Maybe people who don't like spicy food or who have never had it before.
Then again, if you're not someone who eats spicy food much, this chip may send you over the edge.
If you want to do something crazy with spicy hot foods, get some of the actual chili peppers and eat those straight.

It did have somewhat of a "chemical" taste to it, that's for sure. I've never really sought out spicy foods so it definitely hit me hard :)

Ah, this was perfect for folks like yourself. I've been eating chili peppers and spicy food forever, so it's different for me.
It's a fun challenge if you aren't used to it.

I like spicy food, but never really bothered with anything "challenge" related. I've never really thought of my tolerance as anything of note other than to those who honestly can't tolerate spice, either. And that's not me trying to insult anybody who doesn't like/can't do anything spicy either. It's just what it is. Maybe I SHOULD try it, though.

Am I wrong to assume the chemical taste is just straight capsaicin crystals? Makes sense for the product, but I haven't checked the ingredients.

I bet no one was doing this during the great toilet paper shortage of 2020. Or a few people survived with heavy PTSD.

Its definitely not totally capsaicin crystal tasting at all (belive me, in my former life that was part of my routine) but they gotta get the powder to stick to the chip somehow :D

It's not that bad, just hop into the shower immediately afterward.

Or so I've been told...

My guess is taste is their last concern. They are charging $16.95 for one chip, and no one is eating one chip to savor the taste of fresh blue corn.

i love spicy foods from all cuisines. but my "challenge" and contest days are over. all of my friendly former competitors are dead. i no longer eat raw hot/chili peppers.

per the OP: i voted "no" --- i haven't seen that product until your thread.
