I came across these recently on sale from Invalid Link Removed for just $60! Looks like they usually go for around $135-$160. The pickup input has a 1 MOhm input impedance, and the mic input has a switch for 48V phantom power. The really cool thing about it is the FX loop and routing options. I figure the mic/pickup/mix switch for the FX loop send jack could be used to send just the mic or piezo to the board separately, which could be handy. Or, it could be used to EQ the two separately, of course. I know people are always posting about wanting to blend their pickup with a mic, and it looks like this could be a good affordable option. I already have a couple of devices I use for blending, but I went ahead and jumped on the SamAsh deal, so call me the Guinea pig. I think I'll either keep it and sell my Zoom A3, or vice versa. There's no HPF, phase switches, or (semi-)parametric EQ, which we all rave about on TB, but you could always stick an FDeck in the FX loop.
A few of the things that I like about it:
1) The FX loop routing options.
2) I really like that they put ALL the jacks on top.
3) Has an easily accessible 9v battery compartment (no idea how long that lasts when using phantom power).
4) The power switch. I wish more pedals had that.
And a couple other things to note:
1) According to the manual, the EQ only effects the pickup input and is pre FX loop.
2) I read somewhere that the notch is a global parameter (affects both inputs). However, the manual doesn't address this at all.
3) The Boost switch is set at 6db. It's not adjustable
. That's probably too big a gain jump/drop for upright.
4) The manual provides no useful info about the EQ. Just says it's "powerful"
