I used to own a one-off Virgin bass from NAMM '06. It was hands down the punchiest bass I've ever laid hands on. Moreso even than Spectors with EMG's + Tonepumps. And this thing was passive! I was blown away by the tone, but the playability wasn't all there compared to my Carvin or my Warwick. It was pretty well constructed though, but I was so scared of the day I'd finally knock one of the horns on something and just kill the aesthetic value of the bass (which was really about all it had going for it outside of the perfect ultra hot P-bass tone for an Iron Maiden cover band). I ended up trading it in on a fretless Pedulla which was essentially its polar opposite. In retrospect, I don't consider either a good purchase. Led me down the winding road to my Lull though:hmm:

Truth be told, these days if I wanted a fancy BC Rich-style instrument, I'd go to Neil Moser (the big man from the 80's custom shop, and designer of most of their awesome shapes, as far as I know).

I have an Ironbird body that I'm building a neck for. I've got a Delano MM pickup to go in it. The neck is mostly done, but has been resting for around a year now (read: I haven't had time to finish it).
