Nobody said anything was wrong with the Aubert Mirecourt bridge. This discussion has been about the DESIGN of the feet and your attitude toward professional luthiers. Yet, you still don't seem to respect their opinion.

I posted the following in hopes of giving you some benefit. A well fitted Mirecourt improved the sound of my bass. Again, no I'm not going to compare it to the self adjusting version to satisfy anyone on an internet forum.

I went back and read the entire thread and missed what might be the important factor in the reported tonal improvement. Not the design or shape of the feet but the fact that the bridge is an Aubert Mirecourt, one of the better bridges available.

After fitting one to my bass I was amazed at the improvement over an unmarked cheaper bridge. My bass produces a deeper and clearer low end, is louder and just generally sounds better.

thread doesn't reference my findings as it preceded my changing the bridge, it may be interesting to some.

I value the experience of professional luthiers and realize some prefer using other bridges to the Aubert but I only have my experience to go on.

Please, agree to disagree. Your bridge works for you, in spite of doubts from some of the fine people posting here. So what?

Although I enjoy working on my own bass, I have the utmost respect for luthiers doing this for a living. There is a lot that I don't know and I have the utmost respect for them and for their craft. A former employer once chopped me down to size by telling me that a critical stage in the learning process was to know what I didn't know. Knowing my limits and learning to trust the experts has bas been as helpful as the dose of humility taken that day. Peace.
