How come everything gets better with age except us???

Ya know??? It sucks. My eyesight is fading, my ears are going. And now, my feet are starting to really really hurt. I have been in so much pain from my feet I am at my wits end.
I'm a 1964 model and my value is going down.
Why don't we appreciate with age?????
What a crappy deal. If I was a fender guitar, I would be very desirable, but a decrepit 47yr old??? Not so much.
This rant has been brought to you by a bitter old pissed off dude.

I take pretty good care of myself, eat well, drink to a minimum, lots of excercise. Now I got sore feet. Just kind of sucks thats all. I don't know how to mangage my lifestyle so my friggin feet don't ache.
One consolation:

Men age like wine..... they get more mellow.
Women age like milk...they get lumpy and cheesy.

'68 model here. Stopped running the tires bald and avoiding retreads has helped out the running gear. Those funky/ugly fitness shoes have made a difference. I tried on every brands model available at the really good shoe stores and couldn't find anything that worked (Doc recommended them after some foot surgery). Saw a flier for some on sale at a Payless Shoe Store and since trying them on have not had any pain issues with my feet. Totally blew away the high dollar big name models and seem to be holding up remarkably well.

Did some gigs standing last summer and could hardly see straight after a while, let alone follow changes. Saw a doc, had some surgery and medications (+shoes) and can now walk miles without any pain. Played 2 different gigs at the local fair this past weekend and feet feel fine after being on them all day.

Maintain yourself like a classic performance car and not a daily driver and see what happens. (Warning !! Torn hamstrings are a bitch to gig with! and arthritis... )

I'm a '54 model. The spare tire's got a bit too much air in it, the ball joints are a bit creaky, and the lungs get a bit winded at times from all the years of smoking. Other than that, the old computer between the ears is running as well as it can, and I still gets excited at the sight of a pretty girl. So I'm not quite ready to be put out to pasture yet! :smug:

I can relate, capnjim!

At the ripe old age (I still think to myself, "not that old") of 44 I had a stroke. Still not walking at 45, but I will walk again!. I have been through the knees hurting. Hair will fall off my head and grow out my ears and on my back. Just kidding about the head hair, I have a full head although the front could be lower. We didn't get the short end of the stick (or, so to speak) when it comes to ageing. Still thankful for that one. I think that was a "good one" at the end of your last post. :D

We're like upright basses. Many of the old ones that look like they are falling apart, are the most sought-after and are more than worth the effort of keeping them working. Then again, some older basses are junk, and some newer basses are wonderful.

Hey Carl..what brand and model did you find? I have tried lots of inserts and different shoes and the gel inserts actually make it worse.
Champion brand. I bought the standard Pace fitness shoe, but they aren't carrying it anymore. I did find a sub model on their website [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]. Looks almost exactly like the ones I bought, though I had the option of white with the standard shoe. I guess I had better see how they feel too as they look to be my next pair of shoes.

They aren't particularly soft, in fact the base resists flexing quite a bit, but the sole is soft and rocks when you walk on them. Not to say the insoles are hard, but they aren't squishy like some of the whats available out there. These would fall into the "baby bear" camp as far as padding of the insole. My feet stay in a comfortable position when wearing them and aren't banged up by what I am walking on. It was recommended to ease into wearing them, but I put these babies on and was wearing them for full days from the start. The foot fatigue was the reason I bought them, but they are marketed as strengthening up the legs and firming up the glutes - so if those areas aren't ready for prime time, you might ease into wearing them for a couple hours at a time until you can tolerate them all day.

Have you been to a podiatrist about your feet? I had pain (in one foot) so bad I could hardly walk. Podiatrist recommended custom made inserts. I had them made and also had physical therapy and now NO PAIN! It took a long time for the foot to heal and it was expensive but believe me it was worth it.

Have you tried getting custom fitted insoles?

My feet are ****ed, if I go for long without my insoles I can barely walk. Generic, off-the-shelf insoles often don't help the problem that is causing the pain (and there can be a few).

(advice from your friendly, balding, hypermotile (joints), hyperpronated '85 model with a bad back :p )
