How could I replicate this finish?

I've got a sanded-to-raw p-bass I'm going to refin and I really like the vibe of this refin:

How would I go about getting that finish? Specific help much appreciated!

Looks like some sort of brown wood stain with a satin clear coat on top of it. Would be pretty simple to apply.

Anybody have a ballpark idea what color stain that might be?

Stain will look different on different pieces of wood. What kind of wood is your bass made of? Alder? Ash? Something else? You could always try some scrap pieces of the same kind of wood from a lumberyard and try sampling some stain. I used to work for a paint store for years, and you just never quite know how a piece of wood is going to absorb stain.

Start light, it's easy to add more stain to darken...

Satin poly looks like it would work. Either acrylic or oil. Just make sure it's compatible with the stain.
