How do I get alerts? \ Shipping to Canada

Hi! I have two questions for you today...

1: I'm looking for used Dimarzio DP123 J pups. When I type "dp123" in the search box in the classifieds, all I get are ads marked "sold". Is there a way to show only the ads that are still available? Can set up an alert for "dp123"? That would help! Didn't find how to do it.

2: I live in Montreal, Canada. I understand most of the sellers on TB are from the continental US. Will parcels of used goods crossing the border be subject to some sort of toll fee? (In other words: is it worth it to buy from an American seller?)

1: unfortunately, I do not believe there is a way to limit a classifieds search to show only the sales that are still open. The likelihood is that still-available offers are likely to be the newer ones and therefore ought to appear near the top of any search, but you may have to do a bit of scrolling. If you're not seeing any available posts of that particular pickup, probably no one has any listings that are still available right now.

2: TB is just an internet forum where sellers can post their items as classified ads, and doesn't handle any of the sales, shipping or customs. From a quick google search, it looks like customs etc. on products shipped from the US to Canada can run between 5% and 14% of the value of the sale, depending on what province you're shipping to. I'm sure the shipping company you use can supply details. Whether that cost is worth it to you is completely up to you.

It wouldn't apply to pickups, but if buying a bass, note that rosewood now falls under CITES regulations for international shipping and may need further documentation or fees related to that.

• When you go to search, click on the button that says "More", that will bring you to the advanced search page
• Click on the tab that says "Search Threads and Posts"
• Type in your keyword (I suggest clicking "Search titles only")
• Under Thread Prefixes you can select which prefix you want the search to yield. You can select multiple prefixes on a computer by holding down control (command on Mac)
• At the bottom, check the box that says "Display results as threads"

You should be good to go.
