Double Bass How do I get my amp up by my ears?

After pouring through these threads, it seems like the way to beat feedback the best, is to raise the speaker on some sort of stand up so that you can hear it, and your bass isn't serving as a baffle like it does with the amp on the floor. Many seem to advocate getting a PA speaker like the QSC K series and using a PA stand.
Not having the money for the above, and needing to make what I have work, how I can I raise my speaker cab to head level, and still have this be somewhat portable.
I currently use a TC rh450 and RS112. The Rs 112 weighs about 33 lbs and together they weight 42 lbs. I can't seem to find a ready made product out there that will elevate such a rig safely, and building a wooden stand seem really bulky.
I wish there was someway to attach a flat platform to a pa stand that would be strong enough to support the 42 lbs for the cab and head. Any suggestions?

Proline makes amp stands for about $40.

True, but the proline and most amp stands are designed for guitar players, who want the amp about 1 foot off of the ground. I want the amp 4 to 5 feet off the ground and the amp stand companies don't seem to offer this, at least that I can find. Thanks though.

The PA speaker stands I bought a few years ago came with heavy plastic surface mount brackets that could be screwed to the bottom of a speaker so it could be put on a standard speaker pole mount. A casual search at one retail company came back with a stand and speaker mount, see this Invalid Link Removed

That is one solution that comes to mind.

I have used a separate mic stand mounted powered speaker as a monitor in the past, when the situation called for it; I have most recently used a little Alto PAM5A.

Wow. Thanks Bob. That is why I love TB. I have order many things from you in the past (k and K bass max with pre, bass case) and hope to work with you in the future. The other thing I am looking to get is the Erhlund pickup and pre. I noticed one on your website, but I am hoping to find one with a shorter wire, like 10'' or so, instead of the 4 foot wire. Do you offer this mod? I wasn't sure by reading your website.

I prefer to keep my speaker in contact with the floor and use one of these to tilt it up:

I mostly use either a 2x12 or a single 15 both of which have light weight flight case type covers. While they do protect their primary function is as a stand for the cabinets.

Back in the day, I used to turn the amp around so it faced the wall behind me. It eliminated the laser effect.

I'm with Dave. Tilt it. Unless you're 27 feet tall, the effect is the same as if you put it on a stand. I think the bass amp wants to to be down where it shakes your butt. Just uncouple it from the floor a bit. Ashtray, 2x4, an unused bass guitar... anything to prop it up a little.

I use this one on stage every week with a 2 x 10 stacked vertically. No feedback issues, throws the tone up to my head and across the stage. My bandmates love it because they can hear it anywhere and if you are a mic the cab guy, it has a threaded head on it that you can add a boom or gooseneck and mic it right from the stand. easy to fold up and stores right along with my guitar stands.

Parts Express sells the flanges that go in the bottom of PA speakers to mount them on standard speaker poles.

I installed one of the Parts Express flanges on the bottom of an Aguilar GS112 and put it up on a tripod speaker stand at about ear level. This worked great for me.

I sometimes lay it directly under me, facing up and it sounds great. Trust your ears and make it sound good for the particular room.
