Double Bass How do I store my double bass?

Well, I'm not sure if this is the right forum but it probably might be the one as storing a double bass is kinda relative to flight cases and gig bags but anyway:


Should I keep it in or out of my gig bag? I don't like having to remove my upright from the gig bag everytime I want to play it, but I live in an apartment building a couple of miles away from the beach at a city where the humidity is always near or over 90%.


Also, it's my first double bass. Pretty sure it's a cheap Chinese. Bought it real cheap from one of my city's orchestra's resident bassists a couple of weeks ago and he's a nice fella with whom I'll be taking classes beginning next week. I've already developed some nasty calluses

the way you're holding the bass in that photo made me chuckle- reminds me so much of when i got my first DB..

if i were you i'd leave it out of the case. i'm 6 miles from the south shore beaches of long island, i've never had a major issue with any of my instruments over the years.

play it and enjoy! congrats on your instrument.

The humidity level inside the bag will be the same as the level outside of it. Probably the safest place for it is in an inside corner, belly in. Keep it out of direct sunlight due to the heat.

Man, you are on the way, great pic. Just don't store the bass anywhere you wouldn't sleep.
