How do you choose your straps

Everything you use - your bass, cables, fx, strings, amp, speakers, and even your strap - can have an impact on the way you play & sound. That said, these straps are pricey, but well worth it. Very comfortable, very well made, and amazing looking as well. I have the "Electric Sunzeye" model on several of my basses.

Those are cool straps. Subtle and very tasteful. As you might surmise from my pic above, though, I tend to go for the stuff that's neither subtle or tasteful... stuff that will catch the eye of a six year old from across the room.

I've used a siple split leaster strap since the beginning of time. I only ever buy a new strap when I get a new bass. (I still have the strap I got for my 80 something T-40)

I only look at color when I get a strap. My Rickenglo Ric has a black strap, my natural AC-50 has a tan strap (the one from my T-40), and my ugly Daphne blue Hoppus P bass has a white strap because white worked best with that God awful color IMO.

In order of importance:

Comfort (3" strap is my preference)
Match color to bass
Find cool design in appropriate color (I actually have the same strap in two colors)
Levy's is preferred

Black, leather, padded and wide. When you get to my age and play a 78 P-Bass you don't skimp on something that can help ease the weight on a 4-hour gig.

No logos or embossing... unless somebody is paying me to advertise their strap, which hasn't happened yet.

I have as much love for nylon straps as I do for eating off plasticware or drinking beer from a can.

And, just a quirk of mine, but the strap always comes off the bass for transport, gets rolled up and rides separate in the case. I know some guys who have left the same strap attached to both ends of the same bass for years and that's fine, but it's just not how I roll.

I don't need straploks and don't use em.

I use a variety of straps but I'm most impressed by a Brown Levy's strap. I only have one of those.

I have two comfort strapps but I dislike them, despite their claims I find that they do have a bungee effect, they smell unpleasant and I don't find them to be any more comfortable than a wide leather strap.

Those Anthology straps look superb, I'll have to try one of those if I can justify the cost - over here, they usually just switch the dollar sign for pound signs which would make them around £114 for even the simplest strap - a Levy's strap can be found for around £40-50 so they'd have to be VERY special to justify over twice the cost

I'm partial to two different padded nylon web straps, both are made by planet waves, and the pads are independent from the strap and thus very adjustable. I have one of the two versions for every guitar and bass I own and all of them have strap locks attached. All of them are black. My basses get 3" wide straps. The Planet Waves straps are 1) comfortable, 2) don't slide and 3) black matches everything. I guess, for me, the strap aside from the above 1,2 and 3 just doesn't matter very much.

The one exception is for my flamed maple purple RG3120 (because I couldn't find a planet waves that day) and that's a purple "Lightning" strap by Levi's. It matches and holds the guitar nicely, but a black PW would've been fine.
