How do you describe this tone?

its not a great recording...with that in mind, while it does have somewhat a stringy-er tone, it has more nasal character/less body than I particularly like, probably due to the pickups location. It sounds like he has highs backed off a lot to make up for body otherwise it would have even more pronounced nasal characteristics

Well I’ll give it a shot. Let’s start with he is recording it with his phone so use that info as you see fit. Lee uses the pickups in series. He sets his bass control to almost full as well as the mid control. Mid frequency is 250hz which would explain the low mid boost. He boosts the high end just a small amount. The Glock pre is voiced quite high, so it only adds a bit of glass where he has it set. The amp is a Walter Woods through a single 12 EA box. With ALL that said, probably 90% of the tone comes from a his hands. I picked up a Sklar Sig bass after hearing the tone on his YT channel. His pre settings would never work for me, totally different instrument in my hands, however the tone of my bass does have much of the same character.

I just listened to it again. The color is a little different. Bright metallic blue with black edges and some white in the middle. It doesn't have a lot of complexity to the colors or sound. It makes perfect sense to me. What is wrong with the rest of you guys?

Wow, that's some tone. It's so full and bassy (listening through HD280 pros), sounds like tone rolled off, but at the same time not a hint of mud - it's so clearly defined while not having the usual zing I'm used to hearing for "clearly defined". Lots of mids but no farting. And while it's not a tone I'd use for my style, it fits perfectly this song.

You have a hard time going wrong with a well made Fender inspired bass.

It makes me think of Phil Collins where every song sounds like a reprise or a closing song. In the first 2 bars

Soapbar or Musicman sound will be my first reaction -

Tone has a time element how the bass player grooves affects how we perceive tone. Lee has this evenness in his playing. That is why the guy is a very recorded session man.

Dingwalls get that tone
Spectors get you a similar tone
Some Music Men get you a similar tone (but watch out for the clank)

not a p-bass, not a j-bass.

I happen to dig it. Cuz I dig Lee. To me it sounds mids-forward.
