How do you do it?!??

Go to Settings, scroll down until you find Music, tap it, then scroll down to Playback, you'll find EQ there.

It's not a graphic EQ, it's just a list of sound enhancement (?) choices, like Acoustic, Trebble Booster, Bass Booster etc, but it's definitely better than if you leave it flat.

Interesting. I found what you discribed on my iPad Pro, but not on my IPhone 5 SE. Just installed the latest software update too.

There is a system to playing by ear.
  1. Learn to match pitch. Sing the note you hear. Then play the note you sing.
  2. Learn to tell the difference between higher and lower pitches. Get a friend to play 2 notes of varying intervals. Correctly identify the second as either higher, lower, or the same.
  3. Learn intervals. All of them. By ear.
  4. Learn chord qualities. Major, minor, diminished, augmented. By ear.
  5. Learn chord extensions. Major and minor 7, 9, 11, 13.
  6. Learn chord alterations. Flat 5, sharp 9, flat 9, etc.
Once you can do all of this, you can decipher any diatonic music.
