How do you get Velcro off pedals?

I am getting ready to mount my pedals on an actual pedal board. The problem is whoever owned my Pigtronix Bass Envelope Phaser before I did put the soft half of the velcro on the bottom of the pedal instead of the hook side. It is pretty heavy duty. So the question is how do I get the velcro off the pedal?

That’s the right answer! Or try a blow dryer on a hot setting instead. That’s what I do. Then use some needlenose pliers and grab a corner and it should peel off okay. Use more heat if it still sticks.

Once you get the Velcro off you can use a good duct tape to take off the left over adhesive. Give it a good rub to warm it up, then rip it off.

My wife freaks out when I use Goo Gone, so I only use it out in the garage.... it's odor lingers and is quite strong. In her defense, she was freaking out about our newborn breathing those fumes -- regardless, use caution as it is fairly strong. But, it works great!

I hear ya...I just bought my first Pedaltrain pedalboard today and watched a bunch of videos on setting them up and everyone had the soft Velcro on the pedalboard...every video except one from one particular Australian who makes blues videos. It made no sense to me!

Yep. Hook side is on my board, not pedals.

I've cleaned off the glue goop with lighter fluid, the old standby.

It would seem to me if you are putting your pedals on carpet then you would want the hook side on the pedal so that it will stay put on the carpet.

Goo Gone, which has an odor, should not be confused with "Goof Off", which is an extremely heavy duty goo removal product, and is capable of taking the finish (paint) off of just about anything. That said, Goof Off is my go-to product, used carefully, to fully remove stains, ink, paint, adhesives, etc. when the finish doesn't matter so much, or can be touched up afterward. IT HAS A VERY STRONG SMELL. I avoid using it indoors whenever I can. If Goof Off doesn't remove your undesirable residue, pretty much nothing will...IMO.

Naphtha (lighter fluid) does a great job of removing the adhesive and won't harm the paint.

Isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) can be used to clean just about any pedal.

One well known pedal maker here on TB specifically recommends using isopropyl alcohol to clean his pedals.
