How do YOU like to play?

I just want to see how many bass players out there would play finger bass, picked bass, or slap bass as their main style, and why. I personally like inger picking, it's fun. What do you think?

I like playing fingerstyle the most. I also like to send my fingers down on the strings with a little force for a percussive fingerstyle clank.

have always been a finger picker....cannot feel where I am with a pick...kinda like driving an Olds 88 down the road...you cannot feel the road...

finger picking and neck tapping mostly,a few slap songs..haven't played with a pick in ten years,but I've been messing with a banjo style thumb-pick trying to pick and pluck simultaneously..I have a friend that does this quite well and makes it look sooo easy

i use a thumb pick when playing electric most of the time cause im not that good at finger picking even though i play DB! really kinda weird now that i think about it now!

Now that I'm in a Tom Petty cover band it's about 75% pick, and 25% fingerstyle. I like them both, no real preference, it's whatever serves the song that's my primary consideration.

90% pick, 10% finger. I prefer pick tone and it's easier for faster speeds (I mostly play punk and never developed fast enough fingers for it).

Finger style. Finger style gets me the tone I want, plus finger style allows me to play aggressively. I do slap, but not frequently just once and a while.

Like 70/30 finger/flat pick...depends on the song in the end. I enjoy both though..

I'm so lousy with a pick that I even play guitar fingerstyle most of the time.

That doesn't mean I don't pick.

It just means I probably shouldn't.

I use it all. I see no reason not to use it all, although I'm very judicious about when I slap.

Finger style, it's very natural to me and as a beginner it never occurred to me that bass could be played any other way. Later on I tried using a flatpick but I hate it, I have no speed or touch with it. Tried thumb slapping too but no speed with that either. Mostly I use my thumb for muting. If I need that whackety-whack sound I just smack the strings with my fingers Geezer Butler style.

I play finger...pick...and fingerpick.....I like em all and they all have a place...btw: fingerpick is more of a squire type of playing where the end of the finger hits first and then the pick strikes the string...it is also cool to use a pick and snap ie pull a string with the third finger....I slap when necessary...its all about the tone.
