, so I've told the lads to be prepared for a change in how we pay on our big gigs.
If I was in your band, and you told me this there would be problems.
Probably the next thing out of my mouth would be telling you to pay him extra out of YOUR cut.

Ah, yeah. I walk away from situations like that. It will become a point of contention eventually. Not gonna disagree but her and the BL are a couple and you know how that goes...![]()
Even if he is BL, screw that.if you guys are getting more money now, take some off the top and buy a couple pizzas and some cold beers after the show for the band.
equal pay unless he becomes BL.
This "even split" democratic-cooperative mentality will end up being a limiting factor that you will find to be a management style that's holding you back.
You (hope to) get to a point that there has to be management and employees who are paid commensurate to their contribution. Sticking to the bar-league "all-for-one" model will inevitably lose rising-stars in a break-out band that stubbornly values equity uber-alles.
So you'd be totally cool playing in a band where you know that at least one of the members is making more than you because they have more ''perceived'' value than you?

He sounds amazing, would love to see a video.I shouldn't be surprised by your responses as I've been the 'equal share' guy for as long as I've been playing in bands, but this is the first time I can honestly say that one band member is carrying 50% of the band's value.
In pro sports all the players make the same, don't they?
