How do you pronounce "4001"?

I figured this is the best place fir this thread..

So how do you pronounce "4001". As in rickenbacker 4001.
Kind of a weird question, I know. Haha

I've always said it in my head like "Four-oh-one" and I'm not sure why. I've suprisingly never had to use it in conversation.

So, how do you guys say "4001"?

I say the same exact thing and don't know why seeing that there's two "0"'s in the model number. :)

How does the "and" imply a tenth? Its just grammatically correct on this side of the Atlantic.

Anyone from the Britsh isles would be more likely to say "A hundred and forty", as opposed to "one hundred forty", for example.

I really don't know, it's grammatically correct here(I think?..I do believe it's how I was taught)...although we say one hundred and forty here also...I do know that we Americans have our own version of English(butchered by British standards:))..for example, the year is 2011,I would say two thousand eleven, someone else might say two thousand and eleven and another might say twenty eleven. not trying to argue with you, I could be completely wrong :)..maybe an English major could clear this up :D.

Four thousand and one. I'm English, so I use the 'and'.

Would any americans say fourty-hundred and one? The way some of you guys don't talk in thousands intruiges me - 'Ten hundred dollars', etc.
