I never feel like I am quite there with my playing, technique, knowledge. People like my playing but I never feel as if I'm as good as people think I am. Especially when I catch a phenomenal bass player in a club somewhere laying it down like there's no tomorrow. Maybe that's what keeps me learning, I'm never satisfied.

My job is to support. That's how I see myself. The song is the key thing.
If I support really well, folks notice - but in a good way - and I can provide the flash if I need to. Drummers tend to love me, which is nice.

I am a competant bassplayer in a narrow range of styles. I feel that I have much to learn and I am always working to improve.

I think I'm a marginal improvement over no bass player... on a good day. But I play for the good of the band/song, not myself. That makes a difference I think.

On a side note, I routinely feel guilty about being as bad as I am and still playing out regularly and having nice gear. There's a hundred guys around me that deserve it more but instead here I am. I guess life's just not fair.

I would be the 7th or 8th guy in the rotation on an NBA team. I always get my minutes, productive off the bench, solid defense, good rebounder and shot blocker. Basically, I'm a team player and I work hard in the off-season.
