How do you select cab configuration? (10's,12's,15's,18's?)

I think if most of the whiners in here spent half the time they spend trying to dissect speaker specs, and put that time into their time playing and using their ears -- they'd see the truth behind why Eden has such a stellar reputation.

Face it folks -- it is down to your ears. Every company measures speakers specs, power etc difrerently. There is no set standard they all follow. USE YOUR EARS.

That being said there should be no suprise why many Eden folks prefer 10's and now even 12's. The cabs and speakers live up to their billing.

You can spend the rest of your year comparing and arguing physics.

Meanwhile, back on the farm -- the smart people will simply line up some cabs, plug their favorite bass into them and see for themselves why Eden is considerd TOP SHELF, whereas many other namebrands are considered RAIL.

Eden got singled out, merely because of a post that used their specs in support of a particular choice of drivers.

Bill Fitzmaurice gives curves, and gives the test conditions. So does Phil Jones. Some makers will provide detailed info if you ask. Many makers of commercial PA cabs also furnish curves, though you sometimes have to download the owners manual.

By the way, nice rig.

I have to get in on this fun here. I also, being 52 and started bass playing at 15. I have tried every combination of speakers that there is. 18s,15s,12,and 10s, although I haven't tried any 8s, they just seemed too small somehow. I have found that my very favorite is multiple 10s. The 8-10 cab being my very favorite. However, I just purchased an Eden head, my first one, and I really like the sound of it. However they are so expensive, all I could afford was the WT-330. I sent it in and got the power up-grade to the WT-405 power, but it's still just a 600 RMS head at 2 ohms, 400 at 8. I use a 4-10 cab with it, and it sounds great, haven't tried it on the 8-10 bottom, but I kind of reserve it for my 1000 RMS pre-amped head. But I will try it, just to see how hard it can push it. But after reading, on this site, asking questions, and just studying all the bass cabs out there, and Eden cabs also being so damn expensive, I am building very efficient cabs that will make my 600 watts go alot farther, namely Bill Fitzmaurices designs. I can hardly wait to fire them up. I don't think that any manufacturer will ever sell me a cab again. All of them say how great they are, and the Eden ones, are probably the best sounding ones out there, along with Ampeg, they all are just priced way out of the ballpark, for what you actually get in real estate. I'm thankfull that a freind of mine, told me about Bill's cabs. We are both building them now, and probably will never look back. Thanks Bill!!
