How does your band set-up look at a gig?

Wherever the crash cymbal is, I'll be standing right next to it. Also, if there's a pillar by the stage, they'll usually try to stick me behind that.

Here's a picture from one of our rehearsals. We set up they same way at a gig. Somtimes we have a second guitarist, he sets up next to guitar player #1.

This was at a rehearsal. Hence the lack of stageware. Not to disappoint you, but the band was very serious and quite sucessful in New Orleans.

We play this venue every Wednesday... It's not a bad setup other than having the drummers crash cymbal about 3 feet from my face.

When on stage we setup (looking at the stage) lead guitar-left, drummer-back middle, vocalist-front middle, rythm guitar-right of vocalist, bassist far right.....(not to my liking but that's why I use wireless, lol)

(obviously the point of the group is vocals, but there are vibes, drum kit behind a shield, synth, tabla and sitar, and room for horns in back, too)

I think the key point is to get some stereo separation. The drums should be in the middle with things like guitars, keyboards, and horns as far apart as possible. The bass should be near the middle because low tones are hard to localize and therefore can't contribute much to stereo separation.

We usually set up with drums in the center, bass on the drummer's left (so I can hear the hi hat and kick better) guitar on the other side of me. Keys next to either me or the guitar. Singers way out front as far as possible

Jim, you posted the pic , so your interested in the topic. Post a pic of yourselves at a real show.

BTW the whole shorts and sneakers is just a big issue with me. Most people could care less.

I am not sure I would even allow my my band to wear shorts and gym shoes to reheasals.
