How does your band set-up look at a gig?

Far left Keys Amp. then Bass amp. then Drums.& monitor then Guitar amp
BAssist in front of bass amp Guitarist on right side

Horns on right hand side
Keyboards in front of bassist & to left a bit.
Lead vocal & Lead Vocal out front




STAGE FRONT for some reason I couldn't attach anything... th help with this... :-(

No drums usually. Keys stage left, diva front and center, me stage right. If we have drums he's behind the diva in the center. If someone's sitting in they are usually either stage left so they can use the keyboard player's book, or in front of me stage right.

sometimes the guitarists swap sides, but only rarely. and on even rarer occasion i stand on the other side of the singer.

a few helpful stage terms -

Up-Stage & Down Stage
From the performer's perspective, Down-Stage is toward the audience and Up-Stage is toward the rear.

Down Stage Center - this is where most "front" persons are.

Stage Left - Stage Right
This is from the performer's perspective facing the audience on stage.

House Left - House Right ( the opposite of stage left and right)
This is from the audience (or FOH) perspective.

I've mixed a number of bands that use that format. I like it because it keeps the snare far away from everyone else, and even more so it keeps snare and high hat out of the other mikes.

I've seen that setup often. Quite a jazz/fusion setup. I've personally never used it, but it looks really good and everyone is more or less in eye contact.

I like to look across the neck at the drummer.

There's my soul band with me at the back next to the keys. I like to be on the snare and high hat side of the kit. It also keeps me away from the brass players when they don't quite hit the notes they should. It saves be jabbing my headstock in the backs of their heads!

My left ear is slightly hurt after decades of snare and ride cymbal.

I've played a lot of small rooms so it's always different - however we can fit. Plus I recently played for a while w/ a lefty drummer (that was oddly weird).

The place I've played the most at has a really odd set up - we're usually a trio and its one in front of the other . . .
