How Exactly Has Rick Quality Went Down

Im always on Talkbass and I always see how Ricks are getting Worse and Prices Getting Higher But How exactly are they getting worse..What QC have been shady If I where to buy one would i be better going with a older one which are known to have the weakest Frets in history or go with a new one from pratically the same price

Crooked pickups. Bridge problems. Finish problems. Neck problems.

Gimme some popcorn...
Crooked pickups kinda how it's been for a while don't know if that's a recent issue. Bridge I have seen some with rough spots but haven't seen a lift lately. Finish I have seen mostly the Jetglo from a certain year. Neck haven't seen any new neck problems or overall any more than any other company.

I've seen "crooked pickup" in the treble cavity for decades, therefore, I don't see it as a "flaw" or a QC problem that has increased or decreased in recent years. For those anal retentive types who feel it MUST be exactly perpendicular to the strings, it can be made so with a quick loosening and retightening of a couple of mount screws. The bubbling/lifting finish around the tailpiece seems sporadic and may have been an effect of poor bonding of new UV paints or jagged edges on tailpiece castings that were not weeded out. Haven't heard of that happening in the last year or two. Once in a while, there's a neck that goes haywire over time, but the recent two-piece neck construction seems to have reduced those occurrences.

Many Dark Colors have their paint, "swirled" under the clearcoat....No way to Improve without a TOTAL refinish.

Their saving grace is that if you get a good one, which is a crap shoot, it will be a nice player....And Unique to other basses.

All I know is the one I owned very briefly had a major dead spot on the fret board. For me to pay that kind of money for a bass and to have that problem is unacceptable.
I bought a new Mapleglo a few years ago and there was a dead spot, but more of a concern was that the neck was buggered. If RIC fixed the problem quickly, I would have been happy, but they wouldn't do anything so I returned the bass and the dealer was stuck with it.

If anyone thinks RIC QUALITY is bad, check out their their customer service. THAT is the reason I will never buy another one of their products. Their CS is the absolute worst I have ever dealt with in any industry.... Pretty bad that I would rather call the phone or cable company then RIC.
