How good are SX basses???...

Hello bassist, I just bought a P-Bass and a 5 string jazz bass from rondomusic, these basses are awesome and are less than 200 bucks each, so far im impressed!!...Anyone else out there have any info on these...Any feedback about these...:hyper:

They are very well regarded around here and the consensus seems to be that SX basses are the best value bass under $200 you can buy.

I had 2 of them (fretless 4 and fretted 5) and both were garbage and were returned. Poor construction and both weren't really playable.

I likely was just unlucky.

+1 to doing an "essex" search.

How good are SX basses? Out of the box mine was pretty poor, crappy strings and a setup from hell. After a good set of strings and a good setup, I'm pretty happy with mine. Last year I bought an entry level Ibanez ($249) for the school. It has a better bridge and strings and was setup much better. So, in todays market the SX is worth about what you pay for it. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.

SPAM?

I tried to buy a lefty guitar for my stepson from Rondo through Ebay. It was a big mistake. The guy freaked out and gave me a refund and negative feedback when I simply asked him to make sure that there were no sharp frets on the guitar. Then when I left him negative in return he paid for a moderator to try to get it removed?!

Stay away from Rondo, far away!

That is the ONLY negative feedback I've ever heard about Kurt. You sure it was direct from Rondo and not some private seller? And how do you know he "paid a moderator to try and get it removed"???

Take a look at Kurt's Ebay account. I see 149 negative and neutral feedbacks. One of them is mine. So yes it was direct from Rondo and I know that he paid a moderator because I had to talk with the moderator to ensure that the negative feedback that Kurt deserved wasn't removed. I can only speak of my own experience, but it certainly wasn't good. It was a waste of my time and it left me scrambling to figure out what I was going to do for a gift for my stepson. Kurt was completely unreasonable and unapologetic.

O.K. but that's out of over 20,000 sales.

That still leaves him with a 99.4% positive rating.

Honestly, almost everyone on here that's ever dealt wtih Kurt, myself included, has had nothing but good things to say about the guy. He has an EXELENT reputation.

WOW! In my couple of dealings with Kurt, he's shown himself to be very concerned about customer service and quality. I've NEVER heard anything bad about Kurt or his service! I'm a satisfied SX customer, and wouldn't hesitate to do business with Kurt and Rondo again (matter of fact, I probably will!)
My P/J, although it needs a set up, is so good that my "other" bass (not to be named, because I don't want to start another war) sat on the sidelines at the studio today, and I won't hesitate to record with it again!

Hang on a second here! I've given your post a little more thought.

Do you really expect Kurt or anyone at Rondo for that matter, to personaly hand select a guitar/bass for you at the sub $150 price point?

Who exactly is being unreasonalbe here, particularly considering the return/exchange policy?

If you recieved a defective instrument, they even pay the shipping back if you notify them in a timley manner, as explained on the website.
