Double Bass How high can double bass string tune too without breaking

Must of been an old string.

Not really. 2 years and a few months is all. Still babies as far as spiros go.

I had some work being done at the luthier, and due to a miscalibrated tuner, he tuned a brand new Kaplan C/E string too sharp and snapped the string.

He never did say. I'm sure it was high enough that he should have been able to perceive by ear that he was going too high.
