How long after your first did you get a second bass?

Two or three years between first and second, I think. three or four years between the second and third.

3 1/2 years between first and second bass. Then three more years til the third. Then some come and go every couple of years. Still have that second bass though. I think there's the bass you start out with, and then you start to know what you want in a bass. But you never really know with that first one.

I'm still not sure what second bass is. I was always sure about first, and I never had any doubt at all about what constitutes a home run. I would say regarding all the other basses, I spent a lot of time running around out there, and had more than my share of unforced errors.
Got my first in 2007. Bought my second in 2012 (5years). Just bought my third thus year (and sold my first).
Got my first, a Harmony H22, in high school. Two years later, I got a 1968 P-bass. Number three came *25* years later! Yup, number two was a good'un.
About 3 months. My first bass was an Ibanez SR300. Good beginner instrument for someone who has no idea what they want. Didn't take me very long to figure out I really didn't like it. My 2nd bass was a Rickenbacker 4003.
It took me about about a year to get a 2nd one... I still use that one, aiming for a 3rd one in about a year... so, 4-5 years for a 3rd 
Can't quite remember but I think I only had one bass at a time (though a few different ones) for maybe the first 4-5 years.
