How long to give a disappeared member

BklynKen, if there are no scheduled gigs or active recording project seems like the band might have other issues to focus on, unless your in the initial start up phase.

This might be a classic example of the difficulty in the success of the "Start Up" band.

No need to do that if you all came up with the songs together... as far as I am concerned HE QUIT the band so he has no rights to the songs. Get a new singer and continue where you left off.
Even if he is sick he obviously doesn't have enough courage to TELL YOU that and he has your number. If he's dead or in a coma then also... he won't be playing with you obviously. If he had any other emergency.. no reason not to call you for 4 months and tell you something.

Not trying to sound like and a-hole but enough is enough.

A hall of echoes, but my $.02

This kind of behavior seldom changes in people, if ever. It's unfortunate, but some people just cant get the **** up even to do things that they enjoy.

I would ask him one more time, point blank, something like 'are you interested in this or not, just checking if everything is ok' If you get no response or a negative response, I'd say move on. If he say's 'yea man my bad lets play' I would move on

the only reason I would consider working with him, as stated earlier, is if something actually happened in his life

Sorry but if it was important to him, he would contact you one way or another. Assuming he is not in a coma or dead, he has probably got your messages by now. Unless you are making a living based upon another person (i.e. you played bass for Taylor Swift or some other big name) then do not wait for someone to just get around to it when they feel like it. As someone else said, if a girl you briefly dated didnt contact you for 3+ weeks, what would you be thinking?

I would send him a text that you are moving today because you havent heard from him.

Trust me, behavior as this is not new to his life. It more-than-likely drives every aspect and will plague your band project in similar form...be forewarned! If he does reappear, his excuses will be just as implausible. It takes two seconds to respond to a text message.
