How many amps do you guys own?

this is my only rig and any bass I do any gig on (SR5 and upright). Planning to ditch the pf500 asap, the bottom cab has a rattle, rarely gets used, only for the real loud stuff. Want to switch the pf500 for an SWR 350 or a GB shuttle 6.0. I’d also like to get a 2x8 cab or something else lighter than a 112 just for rehearsals and small upright gigs since I do live in a 3 story walk up.

I'm close to being down to "one amp plus a spare." I have a bigger rig, but realized that I was using its full capability rarely if ever.

One combo , four cabs , four heads . GK MB150 combo . Legendary amp , initially bought it to use with my upright but it became a favourite practice/rehearsal/studio amp . The four heads are a Forte , my usual gigging head , GB Streamliner 900 , a GK MB200 , my regular practice head , and a GK RB400 IV that I don’t use much , although it’s a great head . Cabs are two Bergantino HDN cabs , a 112 & 210 . A Phil Jones C2 I strictly use for practice , and an Ampeg 210AV .
Should probably sell the RB400 , but everything else is used .

I use my three rigs for specific kind of gigs:

Carvin MB15 Combo 200/250w, the amp for medium size indoor and small outdoor gigs, add the cab for large indoor and outdoor.

Phil Jones Bass Double Four, for rehearsal with about 30 uke players in a large rec room, and for smaller gigs

Blackstar Fly3 Bass Duo, for roaming children's hospitals with 4 uke players.

I use my old one in our practice space, it sounds incredible though the SWR Triad.
I don't know the wattage but it's a bad mamma jamma.

The only one I sold was a GK MB500, a wonderful amp about which I have nothing bad so say...

I just lost my interest in physically tiny bass gear.

4 since 1982. A Peavey T 100, which died after 2 1/2 years of solid gigging. Then a Hartke Kickback 120, bought in 1988. The speaker gave up the ghost a couple years ago. Then I went in big and got a Mesa TT-800 with a couple of cabs. It's a great amp. I'm gigging regularly again and needed a backup, so I picked up a Mesa D800+.

I'm not really a gear accumulator or collector. I'd like to get another cab, and a backup bass. But other than that, I'm pretty set.

Five. My 1974 Ampeg V4B I got in 1978, a Roland Cube 60 I bought in 1987, a solid state 15 watt dumpster amp a friend found, a 15 watt Samick I found in an alley and YAHOO!!!, a 500 watt Traynor smal block I bought this year as a treat. Still haven't found the right cab for it though.

After reading a recent thread about amp life spans and how/why they are replaced, I started wondering how many amps people might have laying around. Could be a lead sled, tube head, combo, PA system, repurposed guitar amp or something else entirely. How many things do you have laying around that can drive a cabinet and you use for playing bass?

Stories and rundowns encouraged!

I answered (3). Technically I own four right now, but the last one is listed to sell so I'm not counting since it's on the way out.

There's not a lot of overlap in my stable. I've got:

1. Arkham Beast of Both Worlds. My "modern" amp. Class D, 1200W, tube preamp section. This has all the firepower I'll ever need, a fantastic set of EQ controls, and it sounds incredible.

2. 1966 B-18. For recording, it's the bass equivalent of putting on warm clothes just out of the dryer. I run it through a matching B-18 or standalone B-15 cab.

3. Rumble 200. Never gets set up at home, stays grab-and-go ready. Plenty of volume for rehearsals and small shows without backline.

I'm pretty satisfied with the current stable. I may add some big iron like an SVT or 2000s someday, though...
