I have 12, and play them all, and have also about the same number of guitars... they're all on the wall in my home studio and them more in my home office but couldn't imagine double that amount. :)

Well, I am divorced and have no kids and I have the house....so they are in one of the four bedrooms. I keep 5 out on stands in rotation.

Here are the last three since the last time I posted including the one I'm getting delivered Monday.

Don't envy me. Other people have kids and grandchildren. I don't. But I love music and I am going to be good enough to play in a bar band by the time I retire. That is my goal. I have 7 more years to work on it. Plus I'll have a nice little collection by then too. I've lost interest in my '78 MG Midget, '79 MG B, and '62 Chevy Corvair since I picked up my first bass in May 2013.

five basses, one six-string acoustic guitar, one twelve-string, one strat, one balalaika, one mountain dulcimer, one lap-steel, one viola, one turkish saz, one sitar, one esraj, a gazillion little sound-makers, a couple cigar-box weirdos, and probably something else I'm forgetting. but that's all I can see from my desk.
I am proficient in approximately none of them.
currently on the hunt for a ukulele and a cello. if you need a sound, there's a good chance I have it.
except for mandolins.

After... lots of trading, I still have 4 basses.

I very briefly had 3 as I intended, and wanted to downgrade to 2 but just couldn't.
So it's my Epiphone Rock Bass with the low 5 strings of a 6 string (I had a ESP LTD B206SM for some time) to mess around with Drop D or B standard, a defretted SR 905 CNF strung E to C, a Yamaha BB 425 in standard and an ESP LTD D5 in standard tuning.

I'm not gonna try to fight the G.A.S and just save up for a WW and a MM... probably the Sterling and the RB little brothers tho.

Had to change my vote from 4 to 5, thanks to NBD a few days ago. :) I currently have the last 5 of 9 that I've ever bought in 30+ years of playing:
1) Thompson upright
2) Carvin Icon (fretless)
3) Kiesel Xccelerator
4) Fender Aerodyne Jazz bass
5) Univox "Lucy"
All four-string. I could live without #4 and #5, but #5 has sentimental value, and I'm required to own #4 as per the Fender Bass Obligation Act of 1847 ...
