Well! Here is number 6!
38B15DBD-4C26-426D-A767-451B6AD732CC.jpeg

Just when I told my wife I didn’t need anymore basses, I found this on the internet for $20! The electronics on it were messed up and the owner just wanted to unload it. It’s a Monoprice P bass and it still had the original strings on it. A little solder, a fresh set of D,Addario Flatwounds and a few adjustments and she is sounding so sweet!

Had to change my vote... again lol
New list:
Robelli SWD 4 string
Peavey Grind neck-thru 4 string
Ibanez Portamento neck-thru fretless 6 string
Tobias KillerB 6 string, walnut
Takamine TB10 fretless acoustic

Honorable mention: Fender Jazz 4 that belongs to a band mate, it’s been in my house for over a decade

Gotta say, I’m exceptionally pleased with my collection at this time. Aside from some fret sprout on the Robelli, they all play great and sound great. And they all do different things, and do them well.

I will, at some point, get a fret file and take care of the Robelli. It was given to me almost as a lark, but the thing really does sound good and plays easily.

I thought 'carrots' was the official vegetable/fruit of talkbass?
It is in a 'meh', middle of the road, take it or leave it sort of way...
But 'Bananas' is something entirely different, though I don't quite know what.:woot:
Crazy perhaps?;) Then I'm happy-crazy!
Just quoting @Shannon :D

Very nice collection and presentation!
That custom is sharp. Any additional info you could share about it? Might want to add a nice ABG to round things out...or not since they’re not for everyone.:bassist:

[edit] Just noticed the Magnum.
HS that thing looks pristine!:hyper:

Thanks!
The custom bass is a 32” scale tone monster. The body is cocobolo/maple hippie sandwich is the style of an Alembic Triple Omega. The builder is unknown. It’s got DiMarzio Model J pickups both wired series/parallel, ACG EQ02 filter based preamp, Schaller roller bridge and Schaller tuners. It’s weight is right up there with my T40, but it balances perfect and wears well with a wide leather strap. It can go from the deepest of dub to crystal clear hi fi and everything in between with minor tweaking of the preamp. The EQ02 is probably the best pre ever made imo. I absolutely love that bass.

I currently now have 4.
None have cost me more than £100 to buy but all have had some form of upgrades.

Olp MM2 in black, maple neck/board black headstock, added black plate and added series parallel wiring, its a passive 'stingray' so may upgrade the pickup in due course. £85 off the bay plus plate and wiring upgrades.

Brice 5 string J bass in gorgeous trans red finish, 'Robyn' have changed hardware to gold Wilkinson from chrome and added a pearl plate and, recently Wilkinson pickups, total outlay around £150 less the rerun on the machine heads.

The Part-Sicion, blue Encore P bass saved from my neighbour for £20, full clean down, new maple, blocked 'jazz' neck, Entwistle neodymium pickup and more gold hardware, will be moving the original neck and pickup on soon hopefully. Around £125 spent including initial buy.

Dean Edge 'Delilah' as she's been christened, single pickup in flat cherry finish. Sanded down and primed with a view to a white metallic finish being applied, while rubbing down the primer I found I really liked the effect I was getting and left it at that, part wood part prime, bridge pickup added in the shape of Warman jazz bar humbucker with same at the neck, hoping to get work to cut me a metal plate that I can 'rust' to finish the overall effect. £60 plus paint and time.
