How many basses is too many?

I have three. Plan to own about five. If I had ten or more I would never play them all.

I voted 10 - 20 was too many but YMMV.

That is a personal choice that changes when your circumstances change. I sold 4 basses when I really needed new camera equipment.

I voted 5 to 10. But really, it's all about what you can afford i guess. Still i can't think of more than about 5 basses max that i'd want. After that it would only be about color variations. And i do think it's kinda silly to have more than two basses that are the same but with different colors.

But in all seriousness, I would say keep as many as you can .

When you have to borrow money to buy the next bass. Or when you start forgetting where you left them.

I just held off buying a bass--GREAT deal--because the War Department said she needed a new vacuum cleaner to save the hardwood floors. So I do have some degree of common sense. (And that darn vacuum cost as much as a nice bass!) Still, as long as the rent's paid, bills covered, family fed, taxes current, church and charities taken care of...knock yourself out!

Pretty much. I found one bass that works for everything I'll ever need to do. It's not great for slapping due to the string spacing, which is fine because I'm not really into that anymore. I have a few Rondo basses lying around for backup, but every gig and session I do is on one bass.

For me it's about tones and textures. Not just collecting.

Am going to say if you have a 6 strng and tow other five s then one then its too many. Which am guilty of haveing.
