How many bassists use pedals frequently?

I slimmed my main board from 30+ pedals down to 10 pedals plus 4 on my synth satellite board. 4 pedals (soon to be 6 when my Bass Pig arrives and I finish my GGG Tube Screamer clone) are dedicated to dirt. I almost always use some degree of dirt, be it my Fulltone BassDrive with light OD to my Messdrive Hybrid set for total chaos.

Effects are just an extension of the sound pallet. Plus there fun as heck to play with .

I use an overdrive as always on, then fuzz during guitar leads or if a heavy part need my help to be heavier. But sometimes when there's two to three guitards in the jam, I just rock bass/amp...but the pedalboard is still in the chain in case they piss me off. Like it was mentioned earlier, pedals allow the bass to fill the sonic void alot more.

I always have my VT pedal on for a touch of grit when I dig in. Otherwise, I just use it for my tone. Then I add either my modded DS1 or Big Muff for taste, depending on the song.

I bring my full board to every show.

Opto Stomp - Always on, sits in my rack.
Pitch Black - Can't live without.
VT Bass - Almost always on.
M80 - For DI, clean preamp and occasional distortion
Bass Big Muff - My go to dirt pedal.
Blender Pedal - Makes pedal switching and low end retention much easier.

The rest get about a song or 2 per set in both my rock cover bands.
