How many gigs did you play in 2009?

Even though the year started off slow, we ended up playing a total of 80 gigs for 2009.

Well, that depends. I mainly stick with theatre gigs, which I did nine different shows. However, given that each of those shows runs around 10-14 times, I had 95 actual performances. I *think* I had another 50 that were for various high school choirs, bands, and church.

So, about 145 gigs last year. Since that's not counting rehearsals either, it just proves that my wife is a saint.

I'm afraid to count mine. Compared to years past, not nearly enough!

When I want to get depressed, I'll count the actual number.

I quit my band back in April or May, because we had only played half a dozen or so gigs. The rest of the year I wood-shedded and played solo coffeehouse gigs singing and playing my acoustic guitar, and filled in on bass for a country a band for a few months while their bass player recovered from open heart surgery. Maybe 30 gigs all told.

That's fine by me, though. Any more than that and it would be job ... I just retired, don't need/want a job!

4 bar gigs with band 1
2 benefits with band 2
1 bar gig with band 3

I was also in a 4th band with 0 gigs -
I wish I could find 1 steady - gig ready band

I played about 30 gigs in 2009.
Most were classic rock gigs for private parties;
a few were outdoor events at a public park (after-work Friday events);
a few were coffee house gigs playing only original music;
a few were subbing with a big band (playing swing music for dancers);
a few were non-playing gigs for fundraising events;
one was playing clawhammer banjo and singing folk songs at a old-time music festival

I also played 2 and for one I only played one song. Luckily in 2010 those numbers will be much higher as we have more music, a bigger fan base and more availability's.

Approximately 230 gigs w/ approximately 32 different "clients".

That's not counting rehearsals. (But is counting a handful of gigs I played on drums. )

Tried to eliminate same lineup, different group name from the client count.

When I want to get depressed, I'll tally how much money I made. (Oh, wait, too late... :scowl: )

EDIT: so when I want to get really depressed, I'll factor in the rehearsals.

Not nearly enough. Band decided to hunker down and finish mixing our EP instead of focusing on live work. EP still isn't done.

Played 18 bar gigs and 1 wedding. Played almost 40 open mics. Now I'm in two more bands now so that will hopefully open up more opportunities.

Played out 5 times in 2009. Twice with my band and three times with another band that uses me as a first-call substitute. It's been very hard to get gigs.
