How many gigs have you played?

Seriously though, if I figure on average maybe twice a month, for 20+ years, counting session stuff...wait, that's a high number too....I guess it's got to be over 500 though...?

Over 700, the bulk from working 90-100 dates per year for about six years.

Somewhere between 250 and 300.

About 90 of them were on clarinet.

About 150 of them were on electric bass guitar.

About 50 were on acoustic guitar.

And 3 were on double bass... I failed miserably on double bass. I jumped in way to early on gigging with double bass.



I still remember the first solo I did on clarinet. I was so nervous. I was 12 years old at the time.

I did my first gig in 1965, playing drums at my Junior High (now called middle school) prom with my band "The Taxmen". We split 50 bucks 6 ways, knew 15 songs and played 2 long identical sets. Started gigging on bass in 1968 and have now slowed to around 50-60 gigs a year over the past decade. No wonder my joints are a little stiff!

Got to be over 300 now, maybe 500? more? Who knows, they kind of all blend in together. Every bar, benefit, wedding, party, etc blends into 3 or 4 stock backgrounds and audiences. You just pick one or two and mix and match and hope the pay at the end of the night justifies the drive and maybe even pays for a hot breakfast at Denny's afterwards.

Ive played about 20 shows so far this year with my new band. My last band did close to 100 shows over 3 years or so. My band before that didnt gig all that much. I'll estimate it at about 150, all with original bands.

I'm 40, and have less than 10. I'm currently looking for a new band, though.

I live on an island with only about 65,000 people on; take out old people and children you're left with about 30,000 people.

Out of those, not many are musical. Trying to find a band is difficult
