Except for my archtop hollowbody (4 string).

I used to have a couple of 4-strings with a Hipshot. While, I admit that I sometimes miss the utility, I also always felt (possibly entirely psychosomatically) that the 'E' strings I had them on felt different when at standard pitch. I'm not sure if the science holds up there, but on a Fender Jazz Deluxe that I owned for about 10 years, it somehow "felt" better when I switched back to the original tuning key. ?

Still, I'd experiment with one again & often find myself about to buy another one...

I've had one on every one of my basses (4 and 5 string) since they came out. I never noticed any difference after installation.

I have one on one of my four-string basses. I find it useful from time to time, but I'm also a five-string player, so I see no reason to install a D-tuner on all my four-string basses.

I used to use one, till my bass fell over and bent the peg.

I loved it. I play in drop D quite a bit and as long as you set it up per the directions, it is deadly accurate.

I can't imagine ever having a 4 string bass without one of these. The only (incredibly minor) thing I'd change about them is to require a little *more* force to tune a string. They're noticably easier to tune than the rest of the Fender tuners and I'm forever over-tweaking the E string hipshot tuner becasue it turns so easily in comparison. Either that, or Fender should make their tuners easier to turn - but honestly I like the feel of it being a little harder to turn.

YES! that is highly annoying - but other than that its been a pleasure to play with.

I have one on my spector NS-2. I love it. It's very useful for me as there is always at least one song that i need a note lower than E.

I only have it on one bass.

I've thought about getting one, but I don't tune to drop D or Eb nearly enough to justify purchasing and installing it.

I find them very useful. I switch frequently between drop-D and E standard, and the Hipshot tuner works beautifully for that.

I only have one bass at the moment (an EBMM Stingray), and that's what it's on. My next bass might be a 5-string, so I wouldn't need it there, but should I nab a second 4-string, I'll be sure to get another Bass Xtender to go with it.

Yes all my four strings and one of my five strings have Hipshot Bass Xtenders on them. Yes I do and I use them for more than just dropping the low E to D or the low B to A...

Four, including one with an X-tender on each string to facilitate alternate tunings.

i would love them, but id want them on all my tuners (which i heard is either impossible or hard to do) and they cost a lot to get enough for my 6 string

Had the lever on the Kubiki factor years ago and it was cool, but never put one on any of my 4 strings. I would like one for every string of my 6 string so I could do alternate tunings, but I wouldn't want all the weight up there. It's a great and very practical little device. Wish I held the patent

Yes. I'm primarily a five string player. I don't know if it's actually possible because of the room needed for the lever, but I thought it would be cool to have one on the E string. The reason would be so I could create a 5th interval between it and the A stirng, which could make fingerings on a lot of material easier than fretting the 3rd fret of the B string. For example, I covered Slither by Velvet Revolver when it first came out. That song was rough to play on a standard tuned 5 string, since I had to go across the B, D, and, A strings and string skip back to the tonic note multiple times with a pick during the main riff. Drop-d would have allowed me to pretty much play the entire riff on a single string.

And if so why haven't you?

Because I rotate about six basses with which I gig. I usually choose which basses to take to the gig depending on my mood and which ones have the freshest strings. If I got a Hipshot installed on one and end up playing a lot of material that uses it, I'd have to eventually get Hipshots on them all (or be accustomed to the fingerings for both drop-d and using the 3rd fret D on the B, which would defeat my original purpose of getting the Hipshot, which was to use easier fingerings per a drop-d tuning). I guess it wouldn't be too hard to silent tune in that situation, but I hate having any down time between songs when possible.
