Ya can't go wrong playing CCR, SRV, Skynyrd,' Kryptonite ( now a newer ' Mustang Sally'), etc but those are all low hanging fruit that a lot of guys have played previously....the setlist I saw earlier in this thread looks like a typical area setlist...... there's a billion other songs that work in N Fla if ya take the time to look and find them.....some if these include Tainted Love, Funky Cold Medina, Pour Some Sugar On Me, My Own Worst Enemy, I can name a bunch...and I can't tell you how many times I have heard from folks in the audience ( and staff) 'Thank God ya don't play the same ol stuff'' or 'You guys are like a breath of fresh air" :D

We are a newly formed band . This list is from rehearsal once a week , five songs at a time , so it is an evolution from set one to set four. We are in week ten . Gigs booked for 2020 as well as a couple this holiday season.
I’m new to all of this music . I come from the days of Ozzy , Rush , Zep, Boston , Iron Maiden ect .
This is fun and interesting, I just kept seeing some of the same artist being added each week and was just curious if this is common .
Back in the “day” two of each was enough for us .

yeah we do two doobies songs listen to the music and c grove...and 3 petty songs breakdown, running down, and don't do me like that..but 3 is borderline too much..however like some have already said its good to have multiple songs by same artists but not play them night after night...rotate..that i think is key..rotating set list, that way people don't get set list fatigue...same songs every time..and me too, I like to mix it up...its the deadhead in me..

When i lived in NW Florida i was in a band that worked just about every weekend and we didn’t do anything but country, mostly because the guitar player and singer couldn’t do much else. They could knock it out of the park on classic country, the singer was an older guy who could convincingly cover dozens of country singers and the guitar player was a chicken pickin fool who also did some singing. We had a crap ton of songs we could do so instead of a setlist they’d just call one and we’d run it, and we always had the hot current country radio hit ready to go, but never any rock and roll of any kind. I think we played every fraternal lodge, motel bar, and straight up honky tonk from Pensacola to Apalachicola multiple times and never played a single r & r song. My brother came down to visit a few times and we’d do a few tunes as a trio with the drummer and he always rocked the place. Some places it went over great and others were met with stinkeye. The crowds we played to wanted something they could dance to while they had a few drinks and snacks so we did a lot of dance tunes. Line dancing was big then so Tulsa Time And Swingin got worn out, sometimes multiple times a night by popular demand. Truth be told I’ve never had any real interest in hashing out setlists. It’s like band names, i leave that kind of stuff to those who think it’s important. Just let me know what y’all decide on and i’ll be ready at the appointed time.

And I doubt we would as long as the songs are popular and we don't try to do Side 1 of Jethro Tull's Songs from the Wood or launch into a free-form jazz exploration.

We used to do quite well with free form jazz exploration. Best money I ever made from music.

10 songs a set? 3 set breaks? 40 songs per night????? In my opinion, You need at least 15 more songs in regular rotation, with a bunch more ready to pull out at a moments notice. Two breaks MAX. One of my bands takes one 10 minute break in a 4 hr set. We play at least 55 songs per 4 hour show. Downtime between songs is to do audience shenanigans/involvement ( ok, drunken toasts and 1 2 3 HELL YEAHs). Oh and guitar changes / tuning.
