How many of us straight up sing lead vocals while playing bass?
Bassists who can sing get more work than those who don’t, and it’s gotten me gigs over much better bassists who can’t.
I find the opposite to be true. I have joined many bands since I started playing again five years ago, but when I show how I can sing lead it is usually threatening to whoever the designated singer is, and I am rarely given the opportunity to do it. As a backing singer it adds something, but if you want to sing lead and you are good at it you might find that's a problem unless you're willing to start your own band.+1.
