"Yeah"...:D

I work with a country music artist, so there's no cover songs to share among members. But we also have a cover band project where I sing the lead on 4 songs.

It takes work and repetition. LOTS of repetition. To the point of "can't get it wrong" muscle-memory kind of thing. And lately, I've had to pay more attention to my breathing. Not too deep, not too shallow, and at the right time. Maybe as I've gotten older, it doesn't come as naturally as it used to (which was never "very" anyway).
Don't have to use cheatsheets just yet. Since I usually have an iPad nearby controlling my in-ear mix, using lyrics won't be anymore to deal with.

I guess this subject was on my mind today after a rehearsal with our band when the artist decided that I needed to sing the next higher ("falsetto", if you will) parts instead of where I was. Fine, no problem, just getting those parts in my head now. I was/am usually the guy arranging vocal parts anyway.

I do sing lead, not much, but I do. I know it does not count in your thread/poll, but I mostly sing backup/harmony these days ... mostly because I'm working with some pretty great vocalists and I'm not needed to sing lead much except to give the regular lead singers a break in the set list.

Can't sing, so trying to do it while I play seems like a bad idea.

Yeah, working on improving right now, and it's so much repetition. What I have noticed tho, is that it does not get boring. It's like being almost constantly in a flow state, because you have to concentrate so hard.
It's a whole different animal than just playing, and tbh, one I am learning to really enjoy! Even though, or maybe because, it is so hard :D
