How many strings/frets do you play? [poll]

I am fortunate enough to have beloved instruments that match each requirement therefore I selected all of the categories.
However I am extremely reluctant to get any new-to-me bass that does not have 24 frets.
When I have the frets, I use them.

After experimenting with different numbers of strings and frets, 5 strings with 24 frets seems to be my preference. 5 is just enough strings to hold down the low end. I rarely have the need to go all the way up to the 24th fret but I do like experimenting past the 12th fret so it's nice to have a complete octave there.

I have 10 ,4 strings and 1 ,5 string but i only play 1 string on each. Never paid any attention to how many frets . I play in original metal band , we have 11 songs , all in different turnings, really just the same song but in different turnings, but different lyrics .

I play on 4 and 5 string p-basses, so 20 frets, I play fretless as well. My Warwick fretless is two octaves, while my p-bass fretless is 20.

20 frets because we that’s how many frets my Pbass happens to have.

24 for my EADGC 5 string so I have the option for the high high C, which is useful for when playing melodic classical pieces.

I'm still a 4-string kinda guy after all these years. I do see how an extra string or two could be useful, but it probably won't ever come up enough for what I do to justify buying another bass or two ...
Fret-wise, most of my playing over the years could certainly be covered by 20 frets, but I have had occasion in real playing situations to go as high as 22. Since I never know when it might come in handy, I like 24: the extra two certainly aren't getting in the way, and I might want to get up there some day.

Have a couple basses that are 6 strings, 24 fret and have a couple that are 4 string, 20 fret. All have their place but I most enjoy my 6'ers.

I'm surprised to see a majority playing 24 frets, particularly given that Leo's originals had 20 and are very popular designs, here and elsewhere. For me, I might use a 24th fret once in a blue moon if it were there, but it's not something I miss. I want to have that area clear to snap some strings!

For right now, all four strings. 20,21, and a fretless with 24 positions.
No problem switching between any of them. The more I play, the less I care about the number of frets.

I play all the strings and many of the frets. I go with whatever is on the bass. My life would be dull if I locked into a fixed combination of strings (quantity and type) and frets (many, some or none) all the time.
