I think this poll is a bit skewed. Sure, 4 stringers are winning, but as I said before, everywhere I look, people have 5 stringers. You can't open a magazine without seeing everyone playing one. Tons of people here use them. Yet when it comes to this poll, 4 stingers win. I don't get it.

I wonder how many 5-stringers who play nothing but 5 stringers still voted for 4.

i prefer 5, currently i only own 2 4 strings though.

I'm gonna go with 5 and here's why! Most five strings feel like the width of a P bass, something I'm already use to. Also, all I have to do is worry about one extra string to mute!

Plus, it's just one more string to get use to, and finally, depending on my mood, I can go one up or one down! If I want to go higher its EADGC! If I wanna go lower its BEADG!

I think the six for me right now is way too much for me! I know it's just an extra two strings and while jamming, it's a lot of tonal possibilities, but I look at it like driving a mack truck while the five is like driving an escolade! I think the five is sufficient enough for me!

Somebody just did a string count poll a few days ago, here's the link

That poll showed much tighter results between 4's & 5's, probably because it had a different cross section of respondents .... its also included 7+ strings (my personal choice, so I can't vote in your poll ). But whenever these polls show up, 4 string basses are always in the lead.
