How many years have you been playing?

Started playing in 1975. But I did take off quite a few years in there. Played in several bands when I was younger. Lost interest in playing after I broke up with an alcoholic guitarist/bandmate and moved out of town, leaving my bass with my parents. That was around 1986 or so. After I moved into my own house, I'd pull the bass out and play it, but nothing really seriously(about once a month or so). Just started playing again and really enjoying it just over a year ago. TB has been one of those reasons I've really enjoyed getting back into it. It's been fun catching up. :)

46 years in total, started on Guitar in 61 changed to Bass in 1962, living in the UK we saw and played through the emergence of Beatlemania.
From 63-69 Iused the rarest of Burns Basses the short (guitar scale) Split Sound 6 String Bass, Ive attached a shot with my other two Basses along with a shot of me gigging in1964 (I'm on the left).

About 0.5 years on bass. I've played guitar for the past 9 or 10 years and always played rhythm. I'd pick up the bass anytime one was available and finally decided to bite the bullet and get one of my own and start seriously learning technique and applying the theory that I know to playing bass. Glad I made the switch and don't think I'll ever go back to being just a guitarist.
