In a recent gig, I was with a group where we didn't have a specific theme in mind, but were encouraged to at least dress cleanly. So I busted out my black & red paisley smoking jacket and black/grey striped pants. Group leader had a gold leisure coat. Other guys were more muted but clean. We were classy.

Basically, I want to always at least look (and have us look, if I have any say) like someone/people I personally would be interested in going to see if I saw us in an Instagram post.

I'm the only woman in most of the bands I play with. I always dress up, even if it's just a nice tunic and leggings, because a long time ago I was told that I should always be the best-dressed woman in the joint. I'm not always that, but I'm always dressed in a way that I'm going to be happy with any pictures people might share.

Does the band have a uniform look? No. I have never gone in for that, but I've never been in a casino-style top 40 cover band, which is what I associate uniforms with. I hope the rest of my band members will dress to look their best, but we don't have a uniform. Maybe we should.

I don't like when all of the band members are dressed exactly the same. I think attire really depends on the gig and venue. I never wear shorts, ripped jeans or sleeveless shirts or any shirts with a political, religious or any wording which could controversial or offensive. The idea is to dress appropriately for the gig while still looking professional. Even if you're playing a rock gig, you don't want to look like a slob.
