How much do you TRUST your favorite bass guitar manufacturer?

I think this really gets at the heart of the matter regarding your (mine) comfort level with purchasing a bass (or any other product) over the web.

As we all know, the options, variety, and availability of certain bass guitars is much higher when we shop the web, as compared to shopping locally.

I'm all in favor of purchasing my basses and amps locally, but the truth is, much of what I want isn't available at my corner music store. I have to believe I'm not alone.

So with that said, what's your favorite bass manufacturer, and are you comfortable enough with their quality performance to purchase something via the web. Or do you shudder the thought of not seeing and playing it first?

This really gets to the matter of trust. Do we trust our favorite bass provider? Can we count on them to deliver a quality product?

I don't really trust any manufacturers. I used to trust a dealer (of musical stuff) but GC put him out of business.

I tend to try to buy American made stuff, and hope that works out for the best. Well except for my Mexi Fender that I play all over the place......

I'm playing what I have until it breaks or I die.

Here's the way I see it: If I buy a bass from company-x, then somewhere in the world someone wants it too. If I don't like it, I sell it, slight loss, yes, but regardless I will have what I want. (More likely, I would probably fix the problems but I digress).

Fender and Gibson are like the big Auto companies. I would compare Fender to Ford and Gibson to GM........Yes I also worship at the church of Fender. I have owned many Fender basses but this Thunderbird is my first Gibson, so the jury is out on it...I'll just say this that the Fender quality (American plant ) is a 9.9 and the Gibson quality is not even close....but I will give it ( at least the one I bought) a generous 8.0......

I "trust" them all to a point , I do as much research as I can and then take the plunge . If it doesn't work as expected or in some cases simply looking for new things it gets sold off . The only piece of gear I actually worry about the warranty with or customer service is a amp and I use a GB which is worry free as you know ;)

I trust my favorite manufacturers to produce a very high quality instrument; that said, there is so much variety that I can't be sure how much I'll like any particular bass without playing it first. Just because it's high quality does not mean it will appeal to my taste. I do not trust that an online seller will have full disclosure, or pack well. I do not trust that the delivery company will handle the item correctly.
