I currently have 9619 messages in my MS Outlook in box... I am beginning to wonder how much is too much and what are the ramifications of such a large number.

I don't know. I've been cleaning up my work email inbox. I've been lazy for a bit. I file every email under a customer/vendor folder an then a sub folder for each name. I had over 6,000 in my inbox. I'm down to 3,770 currently. My sent is at 7,553.
I definitely notice a improved performance with less in my inbox. I have 20,000+ saved emails.
My Yahoo mail account is ridiculous. I have saved emails that go back to 1997

Compared to you guys....I am not loved.....
I am surprised some of you guys have the server space for it. The server that hosts our work e-mails fills up so we have to dump a lot of it frequently. It all gets archived anyways.
