This was my issue in the past as well. I’m long and my arms would ache after a…short period of time.I have 2 short scales. Playing them to me is like playing a 4 string, just doesn't work. I'm tall and the necks are just wrong for my monkey arms.
My short scale gets 99% of the home studio action today. Because it’s headless and ss it’s tiny, so perfect for displaying and wielding in my tiny studio. And the butt cutout for the headless bridge allows it to be leaned against things without a stand. That makes it super practical to always have at the ready. This question is geared towards people who use them as a secondary instrument.
I had a JMJ and an EB-0 and really liked the sound but I had issues with both of them easily going out of tune and the JMJ I couldn't adjust the saddles on them, so I sold both. Maybe a skill issue, but that's been my experience.
Anyway, I'm a bedroom player at this point and I want to get a cheap one for goofing around. How often are you picking up your short scale over your long scale?
