It depends. Sometimes I learn two or three or more in one night. Sometimes learning new songs isn't on the agenda. Lately, I have been mostly working on technique when I have time to play on my own.
Crap. I am so exhausted these days. I barely even work on stuff, it seems I am content with noodling. I don't even know how I'm managing to play half decently in the bands I'm in.
I usually learn the main bass line of multiple songs in one day then try to work on one song from one of the bass lines I learned the next day then do the same for the rest the next preceding days until I have learned all those songs. Then I'll do it again, sorry if I confused you haha I am quite unorganized! But hey it's my method of learning songs and it's helped me out so far!
I work on my own stuff several times a week, even if it's only for five or ten minutes. I'm also learning a set for a fill-in gig and I'll probably spend a couple of hours on that Friday evening and again on Saturday before I have full-band rehearsal on Sunday.
I've been doing it long enough and often enough that I wear glasses now! But I am getting faster and a lot less sloppy. In fact I've pretty much gotten to the point that I don't even need anything to to look at, my imagination kinda takes over and before you know it I'm really rockin!
We are talking about bass playing, right?
