How Often Do You Just Drool?

Okay, so maybe you have too many basses. Maybe the missus is quite threatening. Or perhaps you just don't have the money. Regardless, how often do you just surf the Classifieds or Reverb or eBay or whatnot and just drool over the next bass that you hypothetically would like to get?

For me, its every day...

I couldn't say. I'll let you know when I find one of the 3 basses I'm still looking for. I doubt I'll be doing much drooling, though; I'll be too busy hitting the "Buy It Now" or "Add To Cart" button to drool. That will come when I take it out of the box.....

Every day. Not being able to go to the store is the only thing preventing me from buying more. And I am a bit worried that I will buy all of them when they open again.

The last time I drooled was when I came home from a gig about two years ago and my hand was hurting. I mean dunk it into ice and water up to the top of my wrist hurting. I went on safari. It took awhile. It was so frustrating I was more prone to spitting than drooling. I finally found the Ibby BTB845V with a 33-inch scale instead of 34. I drooled until I could get the cash together, then I drooled in anticipation as my luthier converted it to "conventional" B-G from "solo" E-C. I now drool for more gigs. And my left hand doesn't hurt anymore after a 3-4 hour gig.

I peruse the classifieds and basssandiego.com, basscentral.com and reverb looking at 6 string Dingwalls every week or so. At this point, it’ll be a while before I’ll get the green light from my wife, and I’m fine with that. I’ve got PLENTY of killer stuff to not play at gigs...
