How often does your band rehearse?

We've been at it for 15 years so the only time we rehearse is to get new material under control. We often do that with acoustic instruments and without the drummer. Having a drummer beat around on his stuff while we're trying to work out individual parts would drive me nuts.

I know a drummer who defaults to ending every song with that cymbal-wash-crescendo-thing, which kinda forces all the guitars to participate in the hold-the-chord-until-that-final-hit thing. Boy, it gets old.

I HATE that. I'm BL for a Rockabilly band and we have an ending for almost every song. Out of about 100 songs, we only have two or three that do the "play as many notes as fast as you can" endings. I don't participate, I just hold the chord until they are done noodling.

As far as how often we practice, it depends on how often we gig. The drummer likes to play once a week, so I'll rehearse if we're not playing. I actually like to rehearse, but if I'm playing Friday and Saturday night, I'll skip rehearsal the week before or after.
